On July 27, 2006, the Maryvale Mill recieved Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain of Custody Certification (CoC) for A4 Reflex products manufactured on its Number 3 and Number 5 Paper Machines. The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international network to promote responsible management of the world's forests. Activities of the FSC include:

• Setting of international standards for responsible forest management.
• Accreditation of independent third party organisations who can certify forest managers and forest product producers to FSC standards.
• International recognition to organisations who support the growth of responsible forest management through the FSC trademark
• Allowance of consumers worldwide to recognize products that support the growth of responsible forest management worldwide through the FSC product label
• Marketing programs and information services that contribute to the mission of promoting responsible forestry worldwide.

Over the past 10 years, 50 million hectares of forests in more than 60 countries have been certified according to FSC standards while several thousand products are produced using FSC certified wood and carrying the FSC trademark. FSC operates through its network of National Initiatives in more than 34 countries. The WWF (formerly known as the World Wildlife Fund) considers FSC certification the only credible system to ensure environmentally responsible, socially beneficial and economically viable management of forests. Increasingly, corporate organisations seek to purchase products that are manufactured using environmentally friendly technologies, and processes.
